We recently sat down with Hamner Towing, a Downs Energy customer for more than 30 years.
Tell us about the history of Hamner Towing.
Dennis & Pamela Horvath purchased the business in 1983. Dennis was an automotive technician at a local Ford dealership and Pam was a real estate agent during a period of extremely high interest rates. At that time there were less than 5 units in the fleet and no automotive repair service. Since then, we have grown to operate a fleet of over 30 pieces of equipment. In the early days, Pam ran the business while Dennis continued his career at the dealership. The business remains a family affair with three generations involved in the daily operations with many long term employees.
“We continue to look for innovative ways to enhance the service experience for our customers. We understand that it is our people who represent our company to the public and every employee here must understand this. Therefore, quality individuals with a strong work ethic will always have a home within our company.”

Who are the owners and managers of the business?
The Horvath Family, including sons Casey and Jason. Our manager, Paul Nissely, ensures that our fleet is ready to perform on a daily basis. Omar Juarez and Ted Becker keep the automotive repair side running.
How many people do you currently employ?
We currently employ 45 people, many of whom have been with our company for 10+ years.
What is your value proposition and what sets you apart from your competition?
Our large and extensive fleet and continually trained staff create a high level of professionalism and efficiency. We easily average over 100 requests for assistance per day. We handle this local volume, with an average customer response time of only 20-25 minutes.

We routinely sponsor local high school athletic programs and city events such as the Corona Chamber of Commerce, Corona Rotary Clubs, including the annual Lobsterfest, the America Cancer Society events, and YMCA programs.
What makes Downs Energy your partner of choice for fuel and related services?
Supporting local businesses that also help to support the community is something we feel strongly about. Downs Energy is no exception. Their multiple and convenient fuel locations help us maintain our efficiency with our customers, quickly allowing our trucks to get back on the road and back to being productive. Trouble free service with our fuel account and access to other fuel related products ensures that our business relationship will continue well into the future.
