We recently sat down with P&R Paper Supply Company, a Downs Energy customer since 2007.

Tell us about the history of P&R Paper Supply Company.

Founded in July 1965 by Pat (P) and Ralph (R) Maiberger, the company gets its roots from Tiffin Paper Company in Tiffin, Ohio. Tiffin Paper Company is in business today and owned and operated by the Maibergers remaining in Tiffin. The company started out with a Volkswagen van as its only delivery vehicle and serviced the Redlands and San Bernardino area from its 5,000 square foot warehouse in Redlands, California.

Tell us about the services P&R Paper Supply Company offers.

P&R services all major food service, supermarket, janitorial, retail and industrial markets offering “big” company experience with “small” company comfort and service. We have over 7,000 items in stock (as well as virtually unlimited sources of supply), more than 270,000 square feet of warehouse space and deliver from our locations in Redlands, San Diego, Union City, California and Las Vegas, Nevada.

Who are the owners and managers of the business?

4 owners (siblings) – Joe Maiberger, Mark Maiberger, Luke Maiberger and Anne Kopacz.

How many people do you currently employ?

Presently operated by the second generation of the Maibergers, we employ over 200 people including some third generation Maibergers.

Can you tell us about your Community, Civic or Charitable involvement?

We operate an extensive recycling program with area schools by repurposing used styrofoam trays, P&R picks up the used trays and delivers them to a recycling facility where they are recycled and turned into park benches, picture frames and other items that are commonly used in the schools. We also focus on offering a “Green Line” of products with an environmentally friendly carbon footprint, including compostable, recyclable, and reusable products.
